Isometric Axis

All isometric drawings are constructed along or in relation to the isometric axis. The height of the object is measured along the vertical lines. The width and depth of the object are measured along the 30 degree angle to the horizontal plane. The isometric axes are 120 degrees from each other.

Because the isometric axes are 120 degrees from each other, you can draw one completed iso view, duplicate it, and rotate it 120 degrees, creating another accurate iso drawing. Repeat the steps and you have a third view. Two new views completed only in a few seconds!
